Product Description
Thought precise, accurate measurements can only be performed by sighted people? No way - think again! Our Tactile Braille Caliper is a simple-to-use, accurate, low-cost measuring ruler for the blind and visually impaired. It provides tactile and Braille output to 1/16th of an inch, making instant, precise measuring a breeze.
The caliper allows you to measure with accuracy and speed. It displays readings directly in Braille. It's a simple mechanical instrument that can be used anywhere by people of all ages.
Like a standard Braille ruler, this caliper features Brailled inch numbers along the top edge. Then, simply move the mechanical slider along the ruler and read the Braille on the slider to determine the precise measurement to the nearest 1/16th of an inch. For example, to read a measurement of 5-9/16", look for the number to the left of the slider (in this case a "5"). Then, read "9/16" in Braille on the slider.
Our Braille Caliper is made of durable plastic and can measure anything up to 12 inches in length. Comes with a hard-plastic storage case, as well as a soft-plastic travel case. (Does not feature metric units often preferred by Canadian and international customers.)
