Product Description
Here's a fun way for young people to keep track of time! This talking watch is designed just for kids - and has all the features that children will appreciate! This watch features a snap silicone band, which is so very easy for small fingers to manipulate. (No buckles or clasps to fuss with!) Plus, the band itself doubles as a tactile ruler! Simply slide the watch off the band and it lays flat, perfect for measuring anything up to 25 centimeters in length. The band has single dots marking every CM, double dots every five CM, and triple dots every ten CM. Now, that's bound to be a hit in the classroom.
There's only one raised button, on the side of the watch. Press this button to hear the time in a clear male voice. Press it again to hear the date (with month, day and weekday). No setting buttons are exposed, so there's nothing for little hands to bump! (Simply insert the tip of a pen into the recessed hole below the Talk button to set the time, date and alarm.) The watch also features an alarm with optional snooze function, and the ability to toggle between 12- and 24-hour time announcement.
This watch has a yellow face with two hands: a black hour hand and a blue minute hand. There's a knob on the side of the watch for setting the hands - just remove it from the silicone case to spin the knob and set the visual time in seconds.
The silicone case has two little ears (easily felt tactually), adding to its "cute factor" for kiddos. The watch face itself measures 35MM in diameter and 14MM thick. Recommended for children 3 years and up.
Product Directions
Directions for the Kids Talking Watch From Future Aids, The Braille Superstore.
Your new children's talking wrist watch sports only three controls, and is thus incredibly easy to set and use.
Buttons:
On the side of the watch, at the 2 o'clock position, you will find a raised button. We will call this the Talk button.
Just below it, at the 3 o'clock position, is the stem for setting the hands. Simply pull it out, turn until the hands are set to the correct time, and push in the stem.
Below the stem, at the 4 o'clock position, is another button, which we'll call Set. This button is recessed to avoid little hands accidentally pressing it. Therefore, use the tip of a pen (or a Braille stylus) to press the Set button.
Setting the Watch:
The Set button allows you to select one of eight options to configure. The choices are: Hour, Minute, Year, Month, Day, Alarm Hour, Alarm Minute, and Alarm (on or off). Simply press the Set button until the watch announces the option you would like to set. Next, press the Talk button until the desired setting is reached. Finally, either wait a few seconds for the watch to return to normal mode, or press the Set button again to set another option.
For example, let's say you wanted to set your watch for the first time.
1. Press the Set button once, and Hour is heard.
2. Press the Talk button until the correct hour is reached.
3. Press the Set button again, and Minute is heard.
4. Press the Talk button until the correct minute is spoken.
5. Repeat the above steps for setting the date and alarm.
Normal Operation:
Press Talk once to hear the time.
Press Talk Twice to hear the date, with weekday.
The wristband on this watch is fun for kids of all ages! It's a slap-style, meaning you simply slap it and the band automatically curls around your wrist. To straighten the band, simply pull both ends apart and flatten with your fingers until it retains its flat position. The wristband also features raised lines, representing centimeters, allowing it to be used as a tactile ruler when the band is flat.
That's it! We hope you enjoy your new watch!
