Goofy the dog and Bessie the car have traveled many miles together, and Bessie has lots of bumps and dents to prove it! She can't go very fast, and labors up each steep hill. But Goofy loves his car just the same, and is admiring it when Donald comes roaring up in his flashy new convertible. He laughs at Goofy, calling his car a worthless heap of junk. It isn't long before the two of them have decided to race, to the ice-cream shop in Horner's Corners. That settled, Donald peals out of the parking lot and barrels down the street. He drives like a maniac, angrily waiting for people to get out of his way so he can careen down the next lane. But it isn't long before all this driving makes Donald hungry. He grabs a bite to eat, messes up a football game, and falls off a skateboard. Pretty soon, Goofy and Bessie have spent a lot of time on the road. But they don't stop for anything. Maybe there is something to that old saying, "Slow and steady wins the race," after all.
